Evaluation Question: 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing your product?

When I started to plan my film I used a descriptive writing piece I had written and modified it to suit my target audience and be boosted into film quality material. I then had to map out possible actors and actresses for my production and how the actors would dress, the location and the scripts.
I had to research how to use the camera steadily and to get the best focal shots on the actors so even though it is an AS year 12 media film production, that it was a good movie.

Digital work, so editing and so forth although I had been introduced to other adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator, I had never used Premiere Pro. It wasn't the easiest of applications to use at first but I shortly got the hang of it and was able to edit my film. There were certain tricks I didn't know how to do so I would search for videos on different editing styles and features that could be made available through simple editing techniques. One I particularly liked was the flickering effect, which was simply cutting small chunks from the word slide so that when the film was playing the production name (Movietale) flickered as a light would. I learnt how to also delete audio and keep the clips vice versa, how to adjust the volume in certain areas of the clips and how to add in text.

Death By The Shadow : Draft

Change of inspiration

My final production was originally inspired by Silence of the lambs written by Thomas Harris and adapted by Ted Tally. I linked this to the silence of the lambs due to the way the character speaks and thinks in my production. So originally my set up was going to be like the interrogation in the silence of the lambs, but after careful consideration I came to the realization that it would be too much to fund costumes and finding places getting the same lighting and actors.
Due to the lack of actors I then had to use a voice over with clips throughout which were parallel to what is being described and so after editing and looking at other movies that do this sort of effect. I changed my movie inspiration to that of American Psycho. I related it to American Psycho due to the fact this man is supposed to be a highly ranked man in society and he kills for pleasure, although in American Psycho the guy doesn't recall killing his victims.

Target audience research

Are you male or female? by kota.slays

From my target audience research, I can see the main genre's of film that spike interest as well as which actors and directors influence a persons decision when watching a film

Monday 16 January 2017

My media opening scene will be based on a character by the name of Mr. Clarke, he will be describing his crime to the detective. I will be taking ideas from movies such as Clockwork Orange, Annie Hall, The usual Suspects, Taxi Driver & Fight Club I will be taking the idea of showing videos of actions but having a voice over playing in the background. I will be incorporating images and videos pertaining to the scene, as well as images parallel to the scene. This will intrigue the audience to continue watching the rest of the film. The use of voice over will add a bit of mystery to who the man is, as his identity won't be revealed until the actual movie starts.
